Tips for Home Working

Please find below a few tips to help you support your child when working from home.

  • Make sure you provide opportunities for your child to exercise and stay healthy – this is a link ( to a daily workout with Joe Wicks that is a great way to ensure your child stays healthy and is ready to learn.

  • Try to set up some kind of routine such as core subjects (Maths, English & Science) in the morning and set reasonable targets such as one task a day in these subjects. They are skill focussed so lots of practice is needed.

  • Have set break and lunch times to break up the learning throughout the day,

  • Use afternoon for subjects like geography and history where there are lots of facts to learn.

  • Practical subjects are harder to do at home but could be set as challenges after lunch.

  • Quiz pupils on what they have learnt or get them to teach you about key subjects or topics.

  • Don’t underestimate the amount your child can do and trust them to make good learning choices. Don’t take all the responsibility from them regarding their learning.
