KS3 Curriculum Content

The study of History at Telford Park School aims to encourage students to develop a mutual understanding and respect for the world around them. With a focus upon the historical origins of the ethnic and cultural diversity of Britain, students will develop their understanding of history at a personal, local, national and international level.

The development of key historical skills are at the heart of History lessons at Telford Park School. In addition to the historical knowledge that students will gain, their ability to understand chronology, recognise bias, evaluate different interpretations and analyse historical evidence will also be developed.

We believe that History is a subject that should be investigated and not just received. For this reason, history lessons centre on challenging students to question and debate key historical issues and events. We seek to develop students that can question the past and form their own opinions based on the interrogation of evidence.

History Enrichment Opportunities

We aim to build opportunities for students to express their learning in lessons through model making, role plays and cross curricula projects with the Art department. Where possible we use film and music to enhance the history learning experience. Aspects of the history experience at Telford Park School we are aiming to develop further are visits to museums, exploring historical sites and inviting in guest speakers.
