Health and Fitness at Telford Park School explains the body from the inside. Pupils learn what happens to muscles, heart and lungs during exercise, how to measure fitness honestly, and how to build a training plan for someone who is not them.
Body systems come first, then the principles of training, then programme design, because each layer needs the one below it. Earlier systems reappear inside later topics until the vocabulary is automatic.
Pupils start with the skeleton in Year 9, then cover muscles, breathing, circulation and energy in Year 10, alongside fitness testing, training methods and goal setting from their own results. The work is practical and personal: pupils measure themselves, face what the numbers say, and plan honestly from there.
