Transition - 2026

Transition to Telford Park School 2026

Welcome to Telford Park School.

My name is Mr Adamczyk, Senior Assistant Headteacher and Transition Lead, and I am delighted to welcome all students and families who have been allocated a place with us for September 2026. I look forward to supporting your child's journey into secondary school and helping them make a successful start at Telford Park.

We know that moving to secondary school is a significant milestone. It is completely natural for students – and parents – to feel excited, nervous and have lots of questions. Our aim is simple: to ensure every child arrives in September feeling confident, prepared and ready to belong.

Becoming Telford Park

Everything we do is built around our core values:

Be Prepared. Show Respect. Challenge Yourself.

We call this Becoming Telford Park.

Our transition programme is designed to help students understand what success looks like, develop positive habits and routines, build friendships and feel part of our school community before they even start with us in September.

We want every student to be known as an individual, not simply a name on a register.

Getting to Know Your Child

One of the most important parts of our transition programme is getting to know students beyond the classroom.

Families will receive a short Microsoft Form which allows us to learn more about their child, including:

  • Their interests and hobbies
  • Clubs, teams and activities they enjoy
  • What they are looking forward to
  • Any worries or concerns they may have
  • How we can best support them

Alongside information shared by primary schools, this helps us build a complete picture of every child before they arrive.

Staying Connected

Beginning in June, families will receive a weekly transition update from the school.

These updates provide:

  • Key dates and reminders
  • Information about upcoming events
  • Advice to support students moving to secondary school
  • Introductions to staff and school life
  • Guidance on preparing for September

Meet the Year 7 Team

Before September, families will receive a short video introducing the staff who will be supporting students in Year 7.

This allows students to begin building familiarity with the adults who will be supporting them when they join us.

Our Year 7 Home Base

We understand that moving from a primary school to a much larger secondary school can feel overwhelming.

That is why our Year 7 students benefit from a dedicated Year 7 building and strong pastoral support throughout their first year with us.

Every student is assigned a Form Tutor who will be their first point of contact each day, helping them settle into school life, build positive routines and feel supported as they navigate the transition to secondary school.

Alongside their Form Tutor, students are supported by a dedicated Head of Year and pastoral team who work closely with families to ensure every child feels safe, valued and ready to succeed.

Students are gradually introduced to school routines, expectations and wider school life, helping them build confidence and independence while feeling part of the Telford Park community from day one.

Transition Events

Our main transition days for students will take place on Tuesday 7th July and Wednesday 8th July 2026.

These two days provide students with the opportunity to:

  • Meet staff and other students
  • Become familiar with the school site
  • Learn key routines and expectations
  • Begin their journey of becoming Telford Park

Parents and carers will also be invited into school on the evening of Wednesday 8th July for a transition presentation and the opportunity to meet key members of staff.

Further details, including timings and arrangements for both events, will be shared through our transition communications closer to the time.

Meet Our Senior Leadership Team

Our Senior Leadership Team works closely with students, families and staff to ensure every child receives the support, challenge and opportunities they need to succeed.

The team consists of:

  • Mrs Huntington – Headteacher
  • Mr Warburton – Deputy Headteacher
  • Mrs Cornish – Deputy Headteacher
  • Mr Khela – Deputy Headteacher
  • Mr Adamczyk – Senior Assistant Headteacher and Transition Lead
  • Mr Jones – Assistant Headteacher
  • Ms Morris – Assistant Headteacher
  • Mrs Kerr – Associate Assistant Headteacher
  • Mr Clarke – Senior Leader for Behaviour

Together, we are committed to helping every student feel a sense of belonging, achieve academic success and develop the character needed to create a future they can be proud of.

A Future to Be Proud Of

At Telford Park School, our job is to help every young person develop the knowledge, character and confidence needed to create a future they can be proud of.

We are excited to begin that journey with you and look forward to welcoming our new Year 7 students into the Telford Park family.
