Enterprise and Marketing at Telford Park School teaches pupils how money and business actually work, from a payslip to a product launch. Every unit ends with something built and pitched, because a business idea that stays in a notebook teaches nobody anything.
Business terms and methods are taught and rehearsed with real examples before pupils apply them to a project of their own, since running a team and learning the vocabulary at the same time leaves pupils confident and wrong. Research, costing and segmentation then reappear in later projects until they are second nature.
Year 7 covers enterprise, pay, tax and a first team product. Year 8 tackles budgeting and spending, Year 9 leadership and taking an idea to market, and Key Stage 4 takes pupils into risk, market research, data and segmentation. Pupils leave knowing how to read a payslip and how to persuade a room, which are useful whatever they go on to do.
