Health and Social Care at Telford Park School is for pupils who are heading towards work with people: the very young, the very old, and anyone who needs support in between. It asks what a person needs, and what a professional owes them.

Life stages, needs and values are secured first, because a case study only makes sense to someone who already knows what to expect at each stage of life. Application comes afterwards.

Pupils study life events and support in Year 9, then needs, rights, life stages, person-centred values, communication and safeguarding in Year 10, before the principles of care in Year 11. The subject asks for something beyond knowledge: the habit of thinking about the person in front of you before the paperwork.
