Pastoral Head of Year
Required from February 2026
37 hours per week; Term time plus 1 week (46 weeks)
NJC Grade 5 Scale 12 – 16 (£30,024 - £33,699 pro rata)
To provide Pastoral Support for a year group so that students make good progress.
The successful candidate must have:-
- Level 4 qualification or equivalent or experience
- Excellent numeracy/literacy skills – equivalent to NVQ Level 3 in English and Maths
- Several years’ experience working in a relevant discipline in a learning environment
- Experience of working with children of relevant age
- Experience of working with students with additional needs particularly social, emotional and behavioural difficulties
- Experience of working with teenagers and adults in difficult circumstances

Are you passionate about supporting young people and promoting positive behaviour? The Telford Park School is looking for a resilient and empathetic Behaviour Support Officer to join our dedicated Behaviour Support Team.
This is a vital role where you'll supervise our onsite Refocus Room, deliver restorative interventions, and work collaboratively with staff, families, and external agencies. You’ll help keep students on track — and out of exclusion — by fostering a calm, reflective and engaging environment that supports learning and development.
Your role will include:

Supervising students in the Refocus Room and maintaining high expectations for behaviour and engagement.

Delivering behaviour interventions that help students understand and improve their actions.

Supporting and organising detentions, monitoring behaviour data, and ensuring work is aligned with the National Curriculum.

Working with SEND colleagues to provide tailored support for students with additional needs.

Helping implement school-wide strategies to reduce suspensions and improve student outcomes.
We’re looking for someone who:

Has experience working with children or young people in a school or pastoral setting.

Understands behaviour management and restorative approaches.

Is confident, calm and consistent in challenging situations.

Is ICT literate and able to manage behaviour records and interventions efficiently.

Brings energy, empathy and a solution-focused approach to their work.
